Andre Deramond to Umpire at 2010 World Championships in Taiwan

Caulfield Park Petanque Club is pleased to announce that Andre Deramond has been invited by the International Petanque Federation (FIPJP) to umpire at the 2010 Petanque World Championships at Taiwan - Chinese Taipei in September/October 2010

This appointment follows on from the high praise he received for umpiring at the 25th SEA GAMES, LAOS–VIENTIANE 2009.

Andre has been involved in petanque in Australia for about 20 years.  He has won 2 National Championships 1994 and 1996 and having represented Australia at 3 World championships (1993, 1994 and 1997).  He has undertaken important roles in petanque administration, umpiring and coaching for many years and was president of Petanque Federation Australia for several years until 2009.

He has achieved the distinction as the First Australian as international umpire and First and only International umpire in the Oceania Region (NZ, New Caledonia, Tahiti, Australia, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna).

The invitation to Andre is a feather in the cap for Australian Petanque and he should be congratulated by the Petanque Australia Federation and clubs throughout Australia.
